In fact, the mother tongue of one in five Calgarians – more than 240,000 people – is neither one of Canada’s two official languages, English or French.
Close to 56,000 Calgarians speak a dialect of Chinese as their first language, and increasingly, you’ll hear the languages of Eastern Europe and other regions of Asia.
