The Calgary Hitmen are a major junior hockey team – meaning their players are generally between the ages of 16 and 20 – that play in the Western Hockey League (WHL).
The team, which has been owned by the Calgary Flames since 1997, play at the Pengrowth Saddledome and have rewarded their fans by qualifying for the playoffs every season since 1998. In 1999, they became the first Calgary team to win the President’s Cup – awarded to WHL champions – and the first to represent Calgary in the Memorial Cup since 1926.
They have some of the most loyal fans in major junior hockey, holding numerous WHL attendance records. The WHL’s regular season runs from October to March.
