Stanley Park
Located on the south side of the Elbow River, Stanley Park is a favourite southwest picnic spot for Calgary families.
The park contains outdoor swimming and wading pools, baseball diamond, sports field, tennis courts, playground, barbecues, fire pits, picnic shelters, and, wait for it…a lawn-bowling club.
There is also fishing, canoe and raft access to the Elbow River: on a hot summer day this corner of the river is full of lounging rafters basking in the sun on all manner of colourful floatation devices.
The park can be accessed at 4011 - 1A Street SW.
