The Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival is one of the largest competitive classical music festivals in North America. It provides approximately 9,500 amateur classical musicians the opportunity to perform and compete for scholarships before national and international judges.
The festival features performers between the ages of five and 25, with 1,005 classes in 16 categories including piano, speech, choir, musical theatre and harp. Classes are open to individuals, duets, small ensembles and groups.
The festival finishes with a flourish as the stars of the festival perform a concert at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
