The Royal Tyrrell Museum is one of Canada’s finest.
Located northeast of Calgary in Drumhelller (about a 90-minute drive), the Royal Tyrrell celebrates the earth’s 3.9 billion year history with a series of chronological galleries. The Dinosaur Hall is breathtaking, with nearly 40 mounted dinosaur skeletons, including the massive Tyrannosaurus rex and Albertosaurus.
A popular tourist attraction, as well a leading centre of paleontological research, the museum has a collection of more than 120,000 fossils. Check out the Preparation Lab to watch as fossils found in Alberta are prepared for research and display at the museum.
