The Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre – in the heart of downtown Calgary, beside Eau Claire Market – is the focal point for Chinese cultural activities in the city.
The centre has a six-storey Cultural Hall, modelled after the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, with a glorious 21-metre high ceiling adorned with 561 dragons and 40 phoenixes.
The centre’s museum includes Chinese artifacts as well as exhibits telling the fascinating history of the Chinese community in Calgary. There are two main parts, the first concentrating on the drivers behind Chinese immigration, the second telling the story of Calgary’s Chinatown.
The centre is at 197 - 1st Street SW.
