Canada Olympic Park, or COP, was a major venue in the 1988 Olympic Winter Games and is now one of Calgary’s premier year-round sports and tourist attractions.
COP has winter programs in skiing and snowboarding, while in the summer there’s mountain biking on 25 kilometres of trails. The park also has Canada’s only Olympic bobsled/luge track, which visitors can take runs on after receiving some training from the professionals.
Thrill seekers have a zip line they can throw themselves off of: the nerve racking starting point is the top of the ski jump tower.
The park is also home to the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum. Canada Olympic Park is just off of the Trans-Canada Highway (16th Avenue) on the western edge of the city.
