There are several schools and studios in Calgary that provide art classes for newbies, intermediate scribblers and established artistes. 

The following list is meant as a starting point, your neighbourhood may have its own local studio, or even community centre, that offers classes in painting, drawing, sculpture and more.

For advanced students, the University of Calgary has a Department of Art while the Alberta College of Art and Design is one of the country’s premier art schools.

Art in the Box
Art in the Box is a southwest Calgary studio with classes for adults and children.

Chinook Learning Services
Chinook Learning Services offers drawing, painting and sculpture classes at its continuing education campus in southwest Calgary.

City of Calgary Arts Centres
The City of Calgary Arts Centres have courses for families, preschoolers, children, youth and adults in clay, ceramics, painting, drawing and more.

Mount Royal University
Mount Royal’s Faculty of Continuing Education offers introductory and intermediate drawing and painting classes.

University of Calgary – Department of Continuing Education
The University of Calgary, in addition to its Department of Art, offers painting, drawing and sculpting classes through the Department of Continuing Education.
