There are several theatre companies in Calgary that provide classes or training sessions of some variety, either throughout the year, or for intensive periods of time.
The following list is meant as a starting point – your neighbourhood may have its own centre that offers theatre-focused classes.
For advanced students, Mount Royal University offers a theatre arts diploma while the University of Calgary has a department of drama.
Calgary Young People’s Theatre
Performance classes and drama camps are provided, while advanced production programs requiring an audition are also available.
Inside Out Theatre
Runs a training program that works towards a theatre production, specifically for disabled participants.
Loose Moose Theatre
Acts as a training centre for individuals interested in improvisational performance methods and holds the International Improvisation School each summer.
Shakespeare in the Park
Hosts a one-week summer Shakespeare workshop
Storybook Theatre
Offers year-round theatre schools for children.
