Shakespeare in the Park

Since 1987, hundreds of thousands of people have seen the Bard’s classics performed in the great outdoors each summer by Mount Royal University’s Shakespeare in the Park

The one-of-a-kind shows bring Shakespeare’s plays to life at the lovely Prince’s Island Park on the Bow River.

Shakespeare in the Park started out as a program of Mount Royal’s theatre department. Today, they are their own company overseen by the Mount Royal Conservatory.

Generally, they perform three to five Shakespeare plays a season. Last year’s performances included Romeo & Juliet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The company also hosts a one-week summer Shakespeare workshop.
