Calgary Young People’s Theatre provides theatre education and performance opportunities for young people.
Founded in 1992, they are a mainstay in the Calgary children’s theatre community, having encouraged creativity, confidence and teamwork in thousands of young Calgarians.
Aspiring young thespians gain theatrical skills at performance classes and drama camps. Advanced production programs are also available – they require an audition – and finish with professional productions at the Vertigo Studio Theatre in downtown Calgary.
Calgary Young People’s Theatre has produced over 50 professional calibre shows and run 15 successful years of summer camps. Past productions include The Jungle Book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Sleeping Beauty and Hamlet.
Many of the company’s alumni have gone on to work in professional theatre in Calgary and beyond.
