Alberta Ballet – Canada’s third-largest company – is the jewel of Calgary dance, internationally renowned for its moving and stunning performances.
The company, at the forefront of new ballet choreography, has 29 classically trained professional dancers from Australia, Canada, England, France Japan, Italy, Korea and the United States. These artists frequently collaborate with guest performers: the 2009/2010 season features superstars like Joni Mitchell and Elton John.
Its season runs from September to May, with performances in Calgary at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, and on international stages.
Alberta Ballet also presents the best of Canada’s ballet companies, including the National Ballet of Canada, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal and Ballet British Columbia.
The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra performs with the company in Calgary.
In 1991, the School of Alberta Ballet launched in downtown Calgary. It has grown into one of the leading training institutions in Canada with more than 500 students.
The school’s season runs from September to June and concludes with a student performance.
