Calgary’s Film Industry
Calgary and the surrounding region are prime locations for film and television productions.
While being best known for majestic scenery that evokes images of the untamed west, Calgary’s diversity has allowed it to stand in for locations as diverse as Afghanistan and Beverly Hills.
The Calgary and southern Alberta region accounts for nearly 80 per cent of all money spent on film in the province. In 2010, the local film industry was supported by 149 Calgary companies.
