Ramsay is an older, diverse inner-city community to the southeast of the Calgary Stampede Grounds.
The neighbourhood is home to around 2,000 residents who live in single-family houses, rental apartments and condos around Scotsman Hill, which overlooks Calgary’s downtown.
In recent years, Ramsay has seen a great deal of development, with older homes being either restored or replaced by newer ones. All of the action has turned the place into a vibrant neighbourhood with a variety of architectural styl es.
There’s a serious Italian café in the community now (something residents are ecstatic about), as well as an avant-garde, high-brow sculpture – showing that Ramsay means business when it comes to creating a dynamic, culturally-minded and arts-focused neighbourhood.
The city’s river pathway system along the Elbow River is a short walk down the hill. Run north and you get to Inglewood; run west and you’ll arrive in Mission.
There are a couple of schools in the community:
There is talk that a CTrain station might arrive with later expansion, but for now, the only public transportation option is by bus.
The major road routes in and out of Ramsay are via Spiller Road or 9th Avenue SE.
