Brentwood is a tree-lined community in Calgary’s northwest close to the University of Calgary, Alberta College of Art and Design and SAIT Polytechnic.
Originally established in 1960, the neighbourhood features lovely older single-family detached houses, as well as some apartment buildings for the students that live in the area.
Brentwood has an enviable position overlooking Calgary’s downtown, providing the community’s approximately 6,500 residents with great views of the city.
The grassy Nose Hill Park borders Brentwood to the north, and has a series of pathways perfect for walking, running and biking.
For arts and athletics, the University of Calgary can’t be beat, with excellent swimming and recreational facilities, Canada’s only indoor skating oval, and any number of dance and theatre performances throughout the year.
Brentwood is very close to a number of shopping centres, including Market Mall, Northland Village and Brentwood Mall.
There are several schools in the community:
Captain John Palliser Elementary
Sir Winston Churchill Senior High
Ecole St. Luke Bilingual Elementary (Catholic)
Brentwood is served by the Brentwood CTrain station, as well as the major roadways of Crowchild Trail, Shaganappi Trail and John Laurie Boulevard.
Calgary Transit operates a number of well-used bus routes to and through Brentwood as well.
