Emergency Medical Services, EMS, serves as the front-line of Calgary’s emergency health care system and plays a critical role in the provision of emergency care and treatment of a patient’s medical condition or traumatic injuries.
Calgary's EMS (Emergency Medical Service) was brought under the control of Alberta Health Services, the provincial department responsible for health care provision in 2009. Alberta Health Services has the responsibility for ground ambulence, fixed wing air ambulence, and rotary air ambulence service (STARS) as well as the consolidation of emergency dispatch systems.
If you are facing an emergency situation in Calgary, emergency medical services can be reached by dialling 911.
