Calgary Fire Department

The Calgary Fire Department works in the community to reduce or eliminate the threats of fire, environmental spills, accidents and disasters. There are 38 fire stations across the city, including three residential firehouses.

From these centres, the department provides the following emergency services:

  • Air rescue
  • Aquatic rescue and patrols
  • Heavy and high angle rescue
  • Hazardous materials handling
  • Pre-hospital care
  • Extraction from vehicles

In addition, the Fire Department is very active in the community providing the following non-emergency services:

  • Blood pressure clinics
  • Educational programs on injury and fire prevention
  • CPR training
  • Fire station tours
  • Community activities
  • Home inspections
  • Household chemical drop-off sites
  • Hydrant flushing and inspections
  • Semi Automatic External Defibrillation (SAED) training
